SPECIALITY COURSES - FOCUS ON YOUR FAVOURITE DIVES
With PADI Speciality Diver Programs you can improve your dive skills, learn how to use different types of dive equipment, enhance your knowledge of dive theory, gain a greater understanding of the underwater world, explore wrecks and visit untouched dive sites. The choice is yours!
We offer a range of speciality courses - these are available at our dive center in Khao Lak and on local day trips to the reef and wrecks, on our Similan day trip boat the M/V Nam Sai, and on our two liveaboard boats the M/V Andaman and the M/V Nangnuan. Get five speciality ratings and you're on your way to becoming a PADI Master Scuba Diver.
Please note that all courses taken onboard the M/V Nam Sai will incur additional National Park fees of B600 per diver per day, to be paid in cash at the Dive Center before departure.

Coral Reef Conservation Speciality
B3,500 – Half day – Theory only

The AWARE - Coral Reef Conservation Speciality course teaches divers, snorkellers and non-divers about the vital role of coral reefs in the marine environment. You will also learn about the current state of the world's coral reefs and what you can do to help preserve them.
Anyone can take the course as there is no dive certification required and no minimum age limit. The course takes place either at our dive center in Khao Lak or onboard the M/V Nam Sai, and you will use the Aware - Our World, Our Water book and watch the Protect the Living Reef DVD.

Enriched Air Nitrox Speciality

Extend your no-decompression limits! Learn how to use enriched air to 40% so that you can safely spend more time at your favourite dive sites, feel less tired and can safely shorten your surface intervals.
You should be a PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver (or equivalent) and you must be 12 years of age or more. The theory part of the course takes place either at our dive center in Khao Lak and, if chosen, 2 Nitrox dives on Thai Muang wreck the following day or, if you choose to do this course onboard the M/V Nam Sai, then the whole course will take place onboard and the two dives will be at the Similan Islands. The PADI Enriched Air Crew-Pak is included in the price of this course.
* Please note that to dive the Sea Chart Wreck you must be either an Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent with 50+ logged dives or an experienced Open Water Diver with 100+ logged dives plus Deep Diver Speciality and/or Wreck Diver Speciality.

Do you want to learn more about the aquatic life that you see when you dive? This course will introduce you to the most common fish families and species found in temperate and tropical waters. You will also learn basic fish identification and scientific survey techniques as well as how important your personal involvement is in preserving the underwater world.
You should be a PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver (or equivalent) and you must be 10 years of age or more. The course will take one day and includes 2 training dives. If you have already logged a PADI Adventure Dive in this Speciality then you may count that dive towards this course and therefore do only 1 training dive. The course takes place at our dive center in Khao Lak together with any of our local day trips (i.e. Khao Na Yak, Thai Muang or Bangsak Wreck) or onboard the M/V Nam Sai.
Course Overview
- Learn how to identify fish in the Andaman Sea, including characteristics of local fish families and species, fish survey techniques and fish identification

Multilevel Diver Speciality

Since there's so much to see underwater you'll want to make the most of your stay. The PADI Multilevel Diver Speciality goes beyond the PADI Open Water course teaching you advanced dive planning techniques necessary to extend your dive times and improve your safety.
You should be a PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver (or equivalent) and you must be 12 years of age or older. The course will take one day and includes 2 training dives. If you have already logged a PADI Adventure Dive in this Speciality then you may count that dive towards this course and therefore do only 1 training dive. The course takes place onboard the M/V Nam Sai.
Course Overview
- Learn how to use different types of dive planners including the recreational dive planner, both RDP Table and e-RDPml versions, as well as dive computers
- Learn about multilevel dive planning, organisation, procedures, techniques and potential problems

Peak Performance Buoyancy Speciality

If you want to fine-tune your buoyancy and soar over reefs whilst extending bottom time by reducing air consumption then the Peak Performance Buoyancy Speciality course is for you.
You should be a PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver (or equivalent) and you must be 10 years of age or older. The course will take one day and includes 2 training dives. If you have already logged a PADI Adventure Dive in this Speciality then you may count that dive towards this course and therefore do only 1 training dive. The course takes place at our dive center in Khao Lak together with our Khao Na Yak day trip.
Course Overview
- A short classroom session where you will watch the Peak Performance Buoyancy DVD
- Practice the fundamentals of Peak Performance Buoyancy during two training dives, including basic buoyancy control skills, fining techniques, advanced buoyancy skills and buoyancy control games
- Get advice on proper weighting, weight positioning for trim and how to streamline your equipment

Project AWARE Specialist

If you want to learn about the plight of worldwide aquatic ecosystems and how you can protect them, then this course is for you. This non-diving course may also be conducted in conjunction with other PADI Speciality Diver courses.
Anyone can take the course as there is no dive certification required and no minimum age limit. The course will take about half a day. You can take the course at our dive center in Khao Lak or onboard the M/V Nam Sai.

Search and Recovery Diver Speciality
B8,600 – 2 days – 4 dives – Khao Lak

Bored of looking at fish? Want to do something more challenging underwater? With the PADI Search and Recovery Speciality you will learn advanced navigation techniques necessary to locate missing objects, as well as learning how to use the equipment needed to bring them safely back to the surface.
You should be a PADI Adventure Diver/Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent) OR You must be a PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver with a PADI Underwater Navigation certification (or equivalent). You must be 12 years of age or more. The course will take 2 days and includes 4 training dives. If you have already logged a PADI Adventure Dive in this Speciality then you may count that dive towards this course and therefore do only 3 training dives. The course takes place at our dive center in Khao Lak together with two Khao Na Yak day trips.
Course Overview
- Watch the Search and Recovery DVD and learn different procedures and techniques including limited visibility, search patterns and safe object recovery using lift devices
- Put this theory into practice with 4 training dives at Khao Na Yak

Underwater Navigation Speciality

When you're underwater, knowing where you are and where you're going comes in handy, especially if you're looking for that beautiful reef that you've heard all about. The PADI Underwater Navigator Speciality course will help you become a pro at finding your way underwater.
You should be a PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver (or equivalent) and you must be 10 years of age or older. The course will take 1 day and includes 3 training dives. If you have already logged a PADI Adventure Dive in this Speciality then you may count that dive towards this course and therefore do only 2 training dives. The course takes place at our dive center in Khao Lak together with one Khao Na Yak day trip.
Course Overview
- A short classroom session where you will watch the Underwater Navigator DVD
- Learn underwater navigation dive procedures, techniques, planning, organisation and potential problems
- An introduction to natural navigation, navigation patterns, distance estimation and compass navigation skills
- Put this theory into practice during your 3 training dives at Khao Na Yak

Wreck Diver Speciality

Explore the past, whether sunk intentionally or tragically, visiting a lost ship or plane can be one of the most atmospheric experiences a diver can enjoy. Through the PADI Wreck Diver Speciality course you get the skills, knowledge and procedures you need to answer the call of wreck diving.
You should be a PADI Adventure Diver/Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent) and you must be 15 years of age or older. The course will take 2 days and includes 4 training dives. If you have already logged a PADI Adventure Dive in this Speciality then you may count that dive towards this course and therefore do only 3 training dives. The course takes place at our dive center in Khao Lak together with two day trips to the Thai Muang Wreck, Bang Sak Wreck and/or the Sea Chart Wreck.
Course Overview
Learn about necessary preparations and practices involved in wreck diving, including:
- The planning, organisation, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards of wreck diving
- The preparation and use of lights, air supplies, special equipment, penetration lines and reels
- Limited-visibility diving techniques and emergency procedures

Deep Diver Speciality

Go to 40 metres and explore different dive sites, see untouched coral reefs and experience the unique sensation of deep diving. The PADI Deep Diver Speciality is intended to serve as a safe, supervised introduction to deeper diving whilst staying within the limits of recreational diving.
You should be a PADI Adventure Diver/Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent) and you must be 15 years of age or older. The course will be conducted over 2 days and includes 4 training dives. If you have already logged a PADI Adventure Dive in this Speciality then you may count that dive towards this course and therefore do only 3 training dives. This course takes place on 2 Similan Island/Koh Bon days trips onboard the M/V Nam Sai or two days diving at our local wrecks or a combination of both.

Drift Diver Speciality

Introduce yourself to the coolest magic carpet ride youll ever experience. This course shows you how to enjoy ocean currents by going with the flow, staying with your dive partner, communicating with the dive boat and knowing where you are the whole time.
You should be a PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver (or equivalent) and you must be 12 years of age or older. The course will take 1 day and includes 2 training dives. If you have already logged a PADI Adventure Dive in this Speciality then you may count that dive towards this course and therefore do only 1 training dive. The course takes place either on the Thai Muang Wreck or onboard the M/V Nam Sai.
